I have been a SNET DSL subscriber for years- now that it is part of AT&T yahoo it seems that there is a CD full of software you need to install. Something NEW I assume, but is it all necessary. Do you NEED To download all the software from YAHOO for protection and such if you arleady have antivirus/protection software??

Also- do you HAVE to install those little filters on ALL of your phones when you get them, or just the main phone in the house....

If you already have an account, you shouldn't need to install there software. If you've got a router, it should be able to handle the connection to the DSL Modem.

If you don't have an account, then you may need to install there software to create an account.

The DSL Filters should, but not have to be installed on all active phones, it will reduce noise that some people will hear though.

I live in another country that uses cable modems for Yahoo!, but I also was given one of those CDs. I didn't install the stuff from the CD. Instead, I went to my ISP's Yahoo! web site to get their software. There should be some software installation page where you can select and download the software provided by your ISP. (Your ISP should have provided you with instructions for registering your Yahoo! account on their site.)
You don't need to download stuff like the Yahoo! browser, and AV software.
I don't understand what you mean about filters, but then again, I don't have DSL. :)

ISP software is bloatware! I never install that crap. It just slows down your computer. Yahoo is simply a web-site availible to any one with an internet connection. Just type in
http://www.yahoo.com/ into your IE address bar and you are here. Then sign up for a free Yahoo membership.

Install one filter on every phone or else you will get interference. Do not install a filter going from your modem/ router to your computer.

I use Verizon DSL, I have installed the filters, and I did NOT install their virus and firewall software as I already use free ones off the net.

no need to install it. just set up the modem, the modem should come with instructions on how to setup your login and password. software only slows down your computer.
