Rit Dye - The stuff you use to tie-dye etc.. makes a pigment REMOVER - I don't know how well it works or if you'll be able to fix the garment at all to be honest with you, but it's worth a try. Second choice could be to go with it and actually DYE the garment a nice shade of red. GOOD LUCK

If you've washed it a second time after the dye exposure and it hasn't come white you can try Rit Dye Remover. It works wonders. Just follow the directions on the package. You can usually purchase it at your local grocery store or Walmart.

I would wash it first in cold water - no detergent - alone to see if the red dye will just wash out. If that doesn't work try soaking it in Chlorine bleach and water mixture - based on the bleach bottle instructions. Then washing it in a hot water cycle with detergent and bleach mixture

My Granny used to do this:
Boil it in a big pan with a little bit of soap.
Wash it as normal. Rinse it thoroughly. Then soak it in cold water with bleach for an hour.
You might find you don't need to do all this - boiling usually does the trick.

Be careful, the other fiber content may yellow with too much bleach. Put on a non showing part first.Try a presoak like Biz or color safe product like Oxyclean.
