They don't use needles. They use fistulas that only come in sterile packages. The drugs are pumped through an IV into the body into the body. The fistulas is a tube with a needle at the end of it. They are commonly used for dialysis and the come sterile and are not reused.

Well first of all, although they may be on death row, they still have civil rights. They have to be treated in a humane manner and if not, it will be considered cruel and inhumane to provide a punishment that is inappropriate such as not giving them their last right of having sterilized needles.
The courts make sure that the procedure is appropriate or they would prohibite lethal injections.

Your use of words implies that needles are actually sterilized by someone locally. Actually, disposable needles are all shipped sterile. You couldn't buy a non-sterile needle even if you wanted to.

The needle itself is sterile from the packaging.
They alcohol swab the area before injection.
REASON WHY THEY STERILZE THE SKIN BEFORE INJECTING:
Alcohol evaporates RAPIDLY. This causes the underlying vein to swell and rise up, making it much easier to insert the needle.

They do it just in case there is a stay of execution ordered by the Governor or the courts before the final "plunge". That way the condemed will not die from an infection if they put a stop to the execution!

We had a discussion about this in one of my classes...they do sterilize the needs and they do rub alcohol on the skin first to prevent infection. Its almost like they are trying to make it seem more humane or something.

yep makes no sense at all does it. a family could probably come back and sue them for improper procedure. So rather than leave that open to teh family to do such a thing... they go ahead adn do the procedure the proper way that it must be done.

Yes; it's too ingrained a habit to break even though it's not necessary.
