I know this may be a silly question, but I'm a new Mom and I was just wondering.

Yup, it's perfectly normal, especially for boys. They don't get to "explore" that part of their anatomy because it's wrapped up in a diaper all the time, so when it's exposed they can touch it. They touch it because it feels good, and it's something new to them. It's not dirty, it's not wrong, and it's not gross. Just make sure you wash his hands after he's done so he doesn't get bacteria in his mouth and eyes from the dirty diaper.
Be prepared for the future, he'll do it for the rest of his life. When he turns about 3 he'll really be fascinated with it because, in the words of my 10 yr old son, he can make it big. lol His younger brother did the same thing at around 3 or 4. It's just a phase. Make sure you explain to him that it's okay to touch himself, but not in public, not in front of or with others, and only in his own bedroom. Good luck and congratulations on being a new mom!!

It is absolutely normal. To him it is just another part of his body and he has no reason to be ashamed of it. That is a learned response taught to him as he grows up.
He is just curious about himself or in reality probably doesn't even care, he is just touching anything he can. That's the way babies learn about the world around them and right now his world is very narrow, only what is within reach.
His whole world right now involves his parents, food, sleep, diapers and his own body and it's functions. Wait until he gets older and brings you a handful of his poop and says "look what my butt made".
You'll learn what I mean as he gets older and does these things.

YES!! Very normal! I have a 17 month old daughter and she's always doing that. I think they're just curious. I'm starting to potty train my daughter and even when she's sitting on the potty she has the need to touch herself or look at herself. It's completely normal. Just make sure he doesn't hurt himself when he does that.

Oh yeah. They are just curious about their bodies. Don't pay any attention. Actually they might start to play with themselves at about two years old. It's not bad, it just feels good to them. They don't have any clue about it being sexual. Children do things to themselves that feel good. I couldn't believe this when I heard it for the first time. But they could make little noises & faces too.

Completely normal. He is just exploring his body. To him it is just a part of him nothing bad. He is just now able to understand he can touch things and find out what they are. Don't get on to him it is normal. When he gets older that is when you can teach him what is appropriate and not.

yes it is very normal, they are just exploring, just make sure you try to keep their hands clean because as you probably know they also like to put their hands in their mouth and on their face. Good luck

Yes it is normal. I had the same problem with my son, and the doctor told me that they like to explore their body's, and it may sound sick, but they like the feeling.

It is very normal ! I have 2 Boys and both of them did it and a few times I thought they were gonna actually pull it off...HA!HA! Have you experienced while changing his diaper he decides to pee in your face? If not get ready because it "WILL" happen, hopefully it will happen to your husband...HA!HA!
