nahh i havent used a plyers yet, it looks like there might be threads but the gap in the ring is too big for the ball to just snap in, even though the grooves are there, maybe should i see if the ball screws in and then if the gap is too big close it abit wiht pliers?

The ball should just pop in and out. If not use a pair of pliers to close it a super small amount or just go to your piercer. Its not always that easy so you may have to fight with it a little if you do it yourself. I am basing this on it being a captive bead ring which does not have anything remotely close to a "screw on" ball unlike a curved barbell.
PS-maybe I should have been more specific. They sell a special type of pliers for use with the captive bead rings that also spread them a little if you close it too far. You can get them at some piercing places and I think I saw some cheapy ones at a Hot Topic once a long time ago.

Try not to use pliers because they will scratch the ring. Bacteria can stay inside the little scratches and cause infections, not to mention the jewelry won't look as pretty. That type of ring works by tension. You will see a grooves in the ball which the ring should fit into. They are generally pretty hard to do by yourself because you have to try to pull the ring apart gently enough to fit the ball in without hurting yourself by pulling on the piercing, dropping and losing the ball, or bending the jewelry out of shape. But it is possible and gets easier with practice. Practice over a rug in a confined area, first with the jewelry in your hands, not your navel. If you still can't get it, your local piercing parlor should offer a jewelry change service for about $5.

you should be able to unscrew the ball or just fit it into the opposite end. no pliers are needed but maybe an extra hand if you get frustrated.

You should be able to screww and un screww it with your fingers. Taking it off is you turn it with your right hand torwards the right and obviously you can guess which way it is to screw it on.

You should try the ball and joint technique.
