Actually, contrary to popular belief, they ARE (according to Lonely Planet's Guide to Jamaica)! There's a little place called Tedd's One Stop - The Original Shroom Boom in Negril (about a half mile east of the square). If you buy a traveller's guid to Jamaica, you can get more great info, or you can post your email address and I'll tell you what I know.
My mum had a very interesting Christmas day thanks to Tedd. We bought a 16oz bottle of Tedd's 'potent' tea (he sells it in mild, medium, or potent) and he threw in five fresh mushrooms and a ride back to our hotel for $2000 Jamaican Dollars, which is equivalent to about $30 USD. He also makes mushroom omelettes and other tasty treats and actually will deliver anywhere on the island. He's a really nice guy and can also help with tours, etc. He's just trying to make a living, you know? ANyway, I think his email address is teddsonestop@yahoo.com, but I am not certain. I do have his phone number somewhere and I can give that to you if you'd like.
If you're looking for an affordable place to stay and get away from the rest of the tourists, Negril Yoga Centre is affordable and comfortable. They have little cottages for around $50 USD a night (some are less). See the link below for more info. Everyone there is extremly nice and helpful. I've stayed there twice. My mom's favourite place to stay now, though, is Villa la Cage closer to the square. They have AC and cable TV (a few of NYC's cottages do, too) and a bar. Mum and I buy Red Stripe by the case at Chin's wholesale in the square for about J$1,350 (approximately $20 USD). Anyway, like I said, post your email address and I'll share my knowledge. I take notes everytime I go for this very reason :o)
PS: Though mushrooms are legal, remember that Marijuana and all other drugs/narcotics are not! Be safe :o)

Probably not. Everything really freaking fun is ALWAYS illegal. Unless you live in Amsterdam...................
