srru couldnt fit wut i wanted in the question what ims saying is that i tried to use the windows 2000 hardrive ahs my back up hardrive for my pc i ahve windows xpdimension e310 they plug for the hardriv ein the windows xp computer is so smalla nd slim adn in the windows 2000 the the hardrive has a ribbion adn aplug with like p4 and p6 but the windows xp doesnt so i cnt connect it right? sorry to be confusing but im haveing a hard time phrasing this 8(

It sounds like your new computer has a SATA drive while the old one has an IDE drive. Get a hard drive enclosure -- you put the old HD inside, plug it into a USB port, and you've got an external backup drive.

windows xp doesnt see your hard drive because two thousand has no digital programming...one of microsofts little boobytraps. all you have to do is transfer all the old files onto a disc with a writer and install them in xp. its complicated but can be done.
