If so, what happened?

I didn't think I would need to clarify, but here goes.

There is a guy on our team who has had some bad throws, and gotten progressively worse. His confidence is shot. Anyhow, now he is so caught up on throwing it right, that he often hits the ground or throws over someone's hear about 40% of the time just playing catch. I had never heard of someone having so many issues. I am just curious if anyone else has had this and if so, how they got around it...got past the mental issues so to speak.

Yep, lol.

When I was 12, I wanted to pitch for my travel team. I practiced hitting a 9 sq. in. target from 3 feet, 4 feet, 5 feet.... then I got stuck and got fed up.

Played dodge ball 3 days that week in gym, and didn't nail anybody. Caught plenty of balls, butby that friday, I was just handing them to other guys to work with.

When the game came around, I had to take 6 steps in order to feel confident hitting my cutoff man from right field. One of the tosses seemed to go too far, but the kid jumped and snagged it keeping us in the game.

I got over it eventually, but I won't forget what that was like.

Really, just go back to basics while hanging out with him, and be easy-going with him. You should be having fun, and he'll get back into the swing of things.

I experienced it once when I was playing college baseball. I never had a problem just playing catch. But when I would play second and try to turn a double play I could not throw it to the first baseman. I don't know what it was. I know eventually the coach moved me to third and I never had a problem since. Just let the boy keep throwing and don't act like it is a big deal. He is probably stressed out over it.

No....but thats funny. Don't worry about throwing the ball and hitting somebody, your accuracy will come, and so will the confidence.
