Why not just shut down over night? That's what I do and I disconnect from the internet, too, since I have a cable ISP.

Its ok .All are active. You know if your antivirus and antispyware is set to startup that will take the same amount of time. Anyway, its ok.

But do shut down normally once a week .ok

Hybernation causes all running programs from RAM to be saved on a small space of the hard disk, so that at the next start it loads the PC as it was before going to hybernation.

If you have just updated your firewall or antivirus with new definitions. You restart the PC once normally to take the effect.

hibernate mode will most likely put your whole system in inactive status unless configured not to do so.
it is safer to open the local area connection window that shows your active Internet connection then right click on it and choose disable so your modem so that it would stop the flow of incoming and outgoing packets from the web which is a safer way,as well as choosing a different power saving method.

No, nothing's active in hibernate, but they'll come back up when you come out of hibernation. I keep mine running all night and have all my updates and scans done overnight.

If you wish to leave your computer hibernate all night, why not just disconect from the Internet? Nothing bad will get in that way!
