No area on earth would have different seasons. It would be the same weather on every part of earth, all year long..

By the way, the tropic of cancer and the tropic of capricorn are at 23.6', not 23.5

pretty easy

If the axis tilt was 90 degrees (which it is, for Uranus), you would get extreme seasons (not that axes of rotation don't turn around, they continue to point in the same direction).

You start with one hemisphere facing the sun. This is extreme summer because you don't even have nights. So it gets hotter and hotter and hotter. If you are at the distance of Uranus where it is very cold anyway, that's fine. But if you were where the Earth is, you'd be in big trouble, water in oceans would probably start boiling and so on.

Then you progressively move into fall. Fall is nice, half of the rotation period is night, the other is day, sun high in the sky at the equator and progressively lower as you get to the pole.

Then you enter winter. Winter is nasty because you don't have daylight anymore, it is permanent night. Just like in the polar regions on Earth during the winter, only it affects a whole hemisphere. Needless to say, temperatures must drop to pretty nasty levels.

And then you have spring which is like fall, and so on.

During the extreme seasons, it may be that the regions around the equator are not too bad. On the summer side the sun will be low on the horizon, and on the winter side you'll get some hot air from the summer side.

Not what if the axis tilt was zero? You would not have any seasons at all. It would be like the 21st of March (or the 21st of September) every day of the year. On the Earth, this would be 12 hours of daylight, 12 hours of night.

It could prove ideal for plants - but may prove a bit boring for humans.

Hope this helps

1. 90' INSTEAD OF 23.5' : North end of the planet -the North Pole- would receive maximum of sun light all year-round, which means permanent summer, someway similarly to actual Equator zone of the earth, but 24 hours daily. Northern hemisphere climate would be decreasing temperature, A perpetual spring but without night time, as it is obvious. Equatorial zone therefore would be in a permanent dimness, an endless sunset -or dawn! This zone would enjoy the four seasons each day as follows: from 6 hours summer (in a segment equivalent to actual equator) then 6 auttum...6etc. -well, on the opposite extreme of planet, the South Pole, there would be perpetual darkness and unimaginable cold every instant of the year, an absolute winter. 2. 0' instead of ... : Just swap poles.

To answer your first question, if the earth were tilted to 90` we would experience a 180 day night followed by a 180 day day relative to our days. The day side of the earth would get very hot and the night side of the planet would be very cold. This is due to the fact that the earth`s atmosphere would not be able to insulate well enough to keep the temperature relatively steady for 180 days. Uranus is a planet in our solar system that is tilted to 90`.

To answer your second question, if the earth were tilted to 0` the weather would be mild all year round it would not get seasonably cold or hot because the exposure to the sun for any given point on the earth would remain constant on a day to day basis all year round.

I hope I have shed some light on the subject.

Everywhere on earth except the equator would have 24-hr daylight and 24-hr darkness for at least part of the year. Also, the poles will be the hottest place of earth for their respective solstices. The equator and temperate latitudes will have 2 summers and 2 winters every year.

It would depend. It the earth maintained one orientation it would have one pole with summer for 1/4 of the year... oh whatever, just visualize it! It's too complicated to explain, i'm tired.

WET considering that both polar caps would be melted and regardless of whether the sun was out or it was raining you would be swimming to beat the band!

there wouldn't be seasons per se- what would happen is the planet would boil, then freeze, then boil, then freeze and within 2 years we'd all be dead.
