Is anybody learning anything in this forum?

I'm just curious why you come here. Is it purely for entertainment, is it for venting, is it to challenge or be challenged...is it to mock and tease? Is it to learn? Have you actually learned anything about people?

Frankly I am stunned with the intolerance and hate that permeates in here. Bad enough the rude and abnoxious...you can expect that...but the hatred and intolerance...are you all just venting or do you truly feel that way? Does anyone actually try to help anyone out in here?

I would love to find out from Yahoo which category gets the most hits in here too. Makes for interesting study. Maybe we are all being studied...think that's why they retain our posts and perhaps sell our views off to researchers or something??? LOL

Its fun to answer questions! The people are sometimes rude when answering questions. I like answering sensible questions. The real questions!

Mostly entertainment. I make up weird answers and funny one. I have different accounts which I use for different things, whichever I'm in the mood for. Sometimes I post if I'm curious about people's opinions, sometimes to find something out, and most of the time, I make up complete crap because it's amusing to see what people answer. Some come up with witty hilarious answers, some are idiots, and some are dumb and actually believe the questions. (You wouldn't believe what kind of nonsense questions people actually think are true.) As for answering, again, it depends what mood I'm in. Sometimes, if I see a question where someone really wants to know something, and I can help, I will, and a lot of times, I answer ridiculous answers because it amuses me. There is a lot of hate on here, and while some of it is just people posting crap they don't believe, I think a lot of people really are just racists etc.

Try the UK site and tell me if there is a difference, this is the first time I've looked at the US site so I don't have a reference yet. Many people on the UK site are American or various other colonials.
I often see things that I want to know the answers to so I put them on the watch list and go back days later for potential answers and often the obviously correct one.
Useful stuff and for future ref can be stored on the my web part of this site.

If you want to learn something, you are going to have to concentrate on particular subjects, like math or botany, or cooking, rather than browse the entire site. Stay away from the religion section, as people tend to get nasty to one another on that forum.

But in answer to your question, yes I have learned things. I have also been prompted to go and find out things that no one seems to have the answer to.

It is what you make it.

From time to time a learn something, but generally I just waste my time here. In the beginning a really liked this site, but now it has become a bit boring. Still, I visit it everyday, but not for a long time.

The reason for racism and sarcastic answers is the obvious. You remain anonymous and faceless. Plus most are adolescents.

Amazingly I have picked up some things in some questions and answers-especially computers.

I think some of the questions and answer are just really childlike. I skip over the ones that are really Juvenal. I have learned things but most of all I do it for fun.

I mostly just go here because I'm bored and it's fun -- I don't really learn anything new. I agree with you about the hate and intoleranece, I try to avoid the "religion & spirituality" section and the "lesbian, gay and bisexual" section because the people there are really easily offended.
