My earliest memory was when I was 3 years old. At least it's what my mum told me, because she remembers when it happened. But I know somebody who remembers stuff from age 2. This is very traumatic stuff, so maybe that's why it's carved in her memory forever.
Would be another interesting question actually... what is your first memory? Was it traumatic? Or extremely beautiful? What makes people remember events they lived when they were 2 years old, if, like mentioned above, human beings usually don't start remembering stuff till they're 3 or 4? Hmmm...

My earliest memory was about 2. We lived in Florida and we had some kind of cement trash thing in the back that had a small metal door on the bottom of it. Being a curious kid, I lifted this door to see what was behind it and found it full of rattlesnakes, some were poised to strike when I dropped the door down and ran like a bat out of hell screaming bloody murder! To this day I'm so phobic of snakes, I can't even look at one on TV or in a picture!

I cant remember anything before 4, and the only thing i remember from being four was my first day of school, and that was the day my dad left my mom. But i was about to be 5 in a few weeks, so thats really all i remember til i turned six and got my first bike. i guess i only remember things that had an impact on me.

1 1/2 but it's just little things. The only reason I know is because when I asked mom about it she told me where I was and how old. Then I remember everything from 3 years and up.

Funny you ask this question because sometime ago I was telling my mom that I had this memory about a man holding me up while he was in bed and I gave detail about the room we were in and she was in shock, she was telling me I was giving her details of when we last saw her dad,( my grandfather) before he died. She was in shock because my description was real and I was about 1 year old at that time. I don't have any other memories from that far behind . My last memory other than that one was when I was about 4.

Funnily enough, I have no memories of being a small kid either. I can just about go back to maybe 12 or 13 with any real accuracy. But then it's all a tad sketchy.

You will remember something with strong emotional ties. If it happened at 2, you'll remember it then, or 3, etc. I remembered seeing Santa in the Christmas parade when I was 3.

I can remember age 2. I dropped a bottle on my foot while standing on a cement slab and it cut my foot bad enough to require stitches. The doctor would not deaden it due to antiquated ideas on that subject (after all it was 1957) and I got stitched up with NO pain medication. It took both parents to hold me down.
