The question is 1. Are you fast 2. Can you dribble like crazy. and 3. Can you sink a jumper with a taller person in your face? If you can it cant hurt to try. As for school, if you know how to manage your time wisely then school shouldn't be a huge issue. I was in a similiar situation, I was also short for my age, and I let that intimidate me, after tryouts, the basketball coach, who was also my P.E coach saw me playing one day, and was shocked I didn't try out, he said I almost definitely would have made it. The point is TRY OUT, even if you don't make the team, you can go out for it next year knowing what you need to improve on

It can be done and it has been done in the past. You can have the best of both worlds: play the game you love, basketball, and continue with your academics excellence. It is a matter of determination, focus, discipline and the will to do the right things. If you focus on these two and avoid the other extra-curricular activities, you can excel in both at the same time. But in the end, education should come first and should never be compromised. I would like to think that basketball and education both compensate each other. Basketball answers your need to be physically fit and education answers your need to learn and feed your mind. Focus.

well i mean i started on my high school varsity team as a freshman. Basketball defintly is hard to manage with school. In the spring when i play no sport i get all A's in school but during basketball season we have a practice before and after school sometimes and my grades dropped to low B's. i will be a sophomore this year and i am 5'11" and i think i am a little short compared to everyone else but 5;5 might be too short. If your high school team is good then i dont know if you will make it.

I think you need to stick to playing the one. if you ever end up playing college or professioanal basketball, there is no way you could play the 2. you could make a good 1 if you have amazing handles, a great playmaking abilty, and a nice midrange jumper. 3 point range is a bonus.

you are not too short to play ball. My high school was good, and the pt guard was very short. You can play ball and keep your grades up. Just try out and see what happens

Try both, but don't lose sight of what's important. You education is your opportunity to make money when you're older. That doesn't change until your good enough on the court to earn a living.

your height wont matter if you can really play. as long as you can do good jumpshots, rebound, just if you can play good height wont matter. and some people CAN do both. but you wont know unless you go for it. if you go for it and its too much you can tell your coach you think its interfering with your school work. and you really want to focus
