Being "emo" as I understand it is more of a lifestyle choice - a reflection of the angst that teens feel and are trying to express, not a disease.
If you're suffering from feeling of sadness more often than not (say 4-5 days a week out of 7), you're probably suffering from depression - a mental disorder. Sometimes it's created by fluctuations in hormones, other times it's brain chemistry that is imbalanced.
The best thing you can do is make an appointment with your doctor and have some blood work done to rule out any peculiarities that might show up. He or she can prescribe antidepressants or refer you out to a therapist to help with your feelings of sadness.

Sounds like it might be time to talk to a therapist - they can help you understand what is going on. I've had one (several) my whole life - it's been nice to be able to tell someone things I'd never tell anyone else. You can "shop around" for just the right person - they don't have to be a boring old man (or woman) there are tons of young, fresh - cool folks to talk to.
Also, just becase you see a theripist does NOT mean you will for sure have to take medication. You can just chat and they will help you figure things out.
A lot of young folks have a big flux of emotions through teenage years. It's pretty normal.

I presume you are still young, max 30 yrs. If so, it is ok to be feeling sadness. Attaching labels to anything is not necessary. "Walk" yourself thru your feelings when you are feeling them. Actually have your mind communicate with yourself (doing this is healthy but only if you 'move' in your attitude, not remain 'stuck'). A person 'grows' only when you search for what is the cause (eg, could be many eg of treatment from others you didnt particularly like, etc...), and being kind to yourself when you see something about yourself you don't like.
Pls don't 'talk' to yourself like some mentally ill people do, without control. They have emotional issues too that gets them 'stuck' in growing up, but their tolerance level is low and they are slow to learn.
Crying is not a 'bad' thing, if you are able to do it appropriately. The best place is prob your own bedroom. If you have it, many tears building up inside, let it flow. Emotions bottled up becomes toxic with time. Deal with the societally unacceptable feeling of sadness (it's ok to be sad), learn to say affirmative things about yourself (eg, I am worth it, I am talented,etc...). This isnt pitying yourself, just 'working it' thru.
I hope this helps...:)

these days being "emo" has nothing to do with your feelings, it's just another rock scene. But if you mean your emotional.... maybe you're emotioanal... idk. But yeah, maybe you are depressed, sometimes people don't even have a reason to be depressed it can be family history, trauma, physical conditions, psychological disorders or a chemical imbalance.

Just because you're depressed sometimes, doesn't mean you're, "Emo."
Kids these days...
