First you have to set up an eye exam appointment. The exam is pretty short. They will have contacts for you to try. If it doesnt work for you during the "class" on how they work then you will go back some other day and get them. After you will try them out for a week , then go back to your eye doctors and they will see how everything is going. if it goes well then wala you get contacts. but as one of my friends say "Glasses are sexy." contacts are cool though too. enjoy and good luck.

You take the regular eye exam that you take for glasses, plus they measure your eyes to fit you for contacts; that part is really quick. Then you usually get a trial pair to put it and they redo a brief part of the vision exam just to make sure you've got the right lenses in. If it's your first time (or often even if it's just your first time with a particular optometrist) you'll have to go back in a week or two for a follow up to make sure they're fitted properly, you're keeping them clean and they're not causing you any problems, etc. Since most wearers are on scheduled replacement lenses these days, that's probably when you'll order like a 6 or 12 month supply.

is this for color or for eye sight? i made an appt, and got my eyes checked, then i got colored ones on the same day as my exam. didnt' take more than an hr. however had to wait like a week for the kinds to get in that were fit for my pupil size. i just wanted contacts for the color back then....i'm not sure about prescription kind.

30 minutes... the doc usually gives you a sample pair and has you return in a week to see how they are working. if they're working, he'll give you the prescription. if not, he'll change it and have you come back until everything is perfect.
