You would not have much luck in the show ring. They are bred more for working and obedience, and therefore tend to be more hyper.
It all depends on what you are looking for.

I do not know much about the standards for goldies so I went to the AKC web site and to the Golden Retriever Club of America for the answer to your question.
The coloring of your new puppy will have no ill effect on whether or not you have a for ever friend. The red coat of it's momma will have no effect on you having a for ever friend in your new puppy.
Unless you are planning to show your new puppy or breed your new puppy then it really does not matter one wit what color his/her momma coat is, does it?
As to whether red is really bad for a goldie the answer is NO.
Goldies range in colors and the only hits they will take is for excessive white spots or black markings anywhere. You can access the sites for more information.
The point is though, from what I have read is that a golden retriever is one of the kindest dogs in the dog kingdom. Get over the coat color issue and enjoy your new pal for life. :)

Red golden retrievers are the American Goldens and the really light blonde ones are English.
There is nothing wrong with a red Golden.
Enjoy your new doggie.

I have a golden that I love to death, She is a light gold color. My neighbor has one that is red, and she is a great dog to. The only difference that I see is the size, they are the same age but mine is a lot bigger, other than that I see no problem with the red ones !

Goldens range from white to some believe black. A large number of Goldens are red or reddish. It is of no consequence.
If you want to know the eventual color of your Golden, then look at his/her ear color. Puppy Goldens grow into their feet size and into their ear color. All mine did.

Nope. Not at all. I've played housekeeper for both colors at my local vet's office (I work in the kennels), and I've never noticed a difference in behavior or health.
