I only ever had one dog; it as a Dobermann and was a superb animal. I have several very fond memories of it - for a supposedly fierce dog it was just plain stupid at times.
In time it's hips went and there was nothing to be done to fix things.
So I took it for one last, slow walk and killed it after a while of just sitting with it and watching the river go by.
That would be nearly 20 years ago.

I've had loads of animals and each and every one has been precious to me. Two that jump into mind immediately are Snowy James, my first rat and Chaos my last rabbit. Snowy always went everywhere with me. When I put on my coat she would climb up my leg and settle herself either in my neck or in my t shirt. When I was on my bicycle she used to pop her head out of my t shirt and let the wind run through her short hair. She was completely socialized, cuddly and my absolute best friend for years. She died of cancer. Chaos, my rabbit lived with me for eight years. he was attacked when he was only five weeks old. His owner didn't want him and I took him in. Due to the attack he was a bit scared and he could get aggressive at times. With a lot of patience and an even bigger amount of very necessary humor I got him to trust me. He became a very loving animal that slept on my bed and used to wake me up by licking my face if he wanted attention. When I came home, he happily came hopping from wherever he had been in the house and he wanted me to stroke him. He died of a kidney disease one and a half years ago and I still miss him. I buried him in my garden ( as I did with all of my pets) and a friend made a small marble headstone for him. He was a very, very special animal and a very good friend.

Sister. Her and her brother were strays cats. He moved in immediately- she was elusive. I won her over by eating ice cream and leaving the bowl on the floor next to my feet. She was always independent but became a wonderful pet.
I was gone when she got injured (not sure how)- she worked her way into the house through a tight opening near the back door and waited for me to come home. I felt like she wanted to be near me before she died. After she was buried, I kept "seeing" her around the house.

A month ago my dog died.
I came home one morning after taking the kids to school. They had just brought in some young male cows. They were a few months old. And Lexie had gotten out of her pin and was running with 3 cows and under thier feet. I was scared they would step on her. They were playing....I know it sounds dumb but they were. She was a boxer and they make a funny sound when they breath. I yell come on weezy and she came too me...I miss her!

my pet Sparkie. I was 10 and he was the cutest little dog. (don't know what he was, mixed) his ears were bigger then his head. He would always grab my pillow when he was tired so I'd lay with him. It was the most adorable thing. He was hit by a car. I saw him with my class on a field trip walking to the near by high school to watch a play. I cried my heart out. 18 years ago.

I had this cat named Ewok, he came and snuggled up to me one day just purring away. He rolled over for a tummy rub, and then jumped off the couch and wanted outside. I didn't think anything of it cause he would only use the bathroom outside.
He never came back.
It's only been a little over 5 months, my kids keep asking me when he is coming home.
Try explaining that one to 4 little kids.
we loved him tons and still do. I just hope someone took him home you know?

I was working days and my bf was working nights, one of his friends comes over drunk and sits down across the table, he talks for awhile and my dog is just sitting there with us, then the jerk says "why don't you pull up your top and show me your ****?" Well, my male Shepard gets up and bites the guys leg and I tell him he better leave and the dog gives him another nip in the heel to let him know that he will be here if he comes back.

My female Boxer named Maddie. She was the best dog I ever had. She was very calm, even when the kids climbed all over her and pulled her ears. She was 11 years old when she died from a cancer tumor. We all miss her very much.

I had a cat called Migraña (migraine in Spanish) that was my favorite cat ever when I was in college. When I went out to party on the weekend she would always wait for me at home. To get into my house, I had to get in through the front door and go up a flight of stairs that led into the door that I went through to get into my house. She always waited on top of the stairs (even when I came back after 6 AM) and when I got there she waited until I went in, but when I tried to hold her she would run away angry for me (sort of like if she was angry that I came back home so late). I would not be able to catch her and would go up to my room to sleep. I left the door open and would always find out that she would come and sleep on top of me after she thought I was already asleep (sort of like wanting to be with me but not wanting me to know that she was still mad at me for arriving too late).
She was one seriously cool cat, I do miss her :-(
