Your reflexes have nothing to do with the brain.

When you pick up a hot plate, the pain receptors in your hands send a signal that only travels as far as the spine. From there it gets sent back directly to your hands, making you drop the plate. The brain's message of "Ouch, that's hot" gets there after the plate has left your hands.

You remember it as, "I picked up the plate, realized it was hot and dropped it." The correct series of events is, "I picked up the plate, then dropped it, then realized it was hot."

So there are certain body parts that will move without a message from the brain.

A person CAN be programmed- look at the new bionic arms and legs that people are getting from the military.

Your brain is has 2 seperate systems- the autonaumic systems which control blood pressure, heartbeat, resperation- all the stuff you DON'T think about.

Then you've got the other system that you control with by actually thinking about them- this allows you to type, as an example.

As far as Pawns in the video game? Its a philosphy quesiton- go see the movies "The Matrix" and make your own conclusion

I don't suppose you have heard of instinct. Not being naturally evolved and able to think for yourself.
