You do know that not only homosexual couples practice "sodomy" as you put it right?
Polygamy isn't possible just because of tax purposes, too messy...but some people practice it within their beliefs and they don't bother you or me
Incest and rape....why do you think that it would lead to that? Do you know that when they allowed blacks to vote, some people shared your line of thought " Shoo, letting them vote, we might as well let animals vote too!" They were of same worth than a mule...
Gay people are people like you and me... not animals, not more or less pedophile than heterosexuals......
You have the right to not understand or accept them, but to deprive them of their rights...No sir.

If you think of marriage as a religious thing (and many people think of it that way) then the answer is -- "its up to the religion to define what ceremonies it will perform and for whom". Of course, the rationalles we sometimes hear from that corner are a bit strained... for example, the institution of marriage is to promote procreation. Since all the religions that perform marriages permit people past reproductive age to marry, that's obviously a rationalization rather than a reason.
On the other hand, if you think of marriage as a civil (i.e. governmental) institution, then the answer has to do with public policy. I personally don't see where sodomy between consenting adults is a bad thing (of course it is still outlawed in Georgia I think). It doesn't matter to me whether the adults are black, brown or white. It doesn't matter to me if the adults are man and woman or man and man etc.
The logical problem with your argument about man and daughter is that it introduces another factor which is not comparable. In particular, we have long accepted laws that protect children from being taken advantage of by adults. These include child labor laws and statutory rape laws.
We also have laws against incest that in part were intended to protect against the significant increase in genetic defects that occur when very similar genomes are mixed. (Relatively rare recessive genes are duplicated.) Obviously, these considerations are not applicable in gay relationships.
I do think as a society, we need to strive to be fair. Is it your opinion that fairness should not be a consideration when we make laws? That would frankly be a bizarre and twisted position. We write laws for many reasons, but every law must have a purpose to be rational. Some of these reasons are:
1. To encode in our laws what is fair.
2. To establish rules that have no intrinsic value, except that we need a rule so we will all behave consistently. A good example of this is the law that says we should (generally) drive on the right side of the road. It could just as easily have been the left.
3. Many laws are written to both be fair and to provide a predictable environment. We decide what are the boundaries of fair business practices and write laws to encode them. This both reflects our values of what is fair and provides rules that help people anticipate what the legal consequences of their actions will be.
Most laws do have some winners and losers. We just strive as a society to make laws that help balance real social needs against the rights and freedoms of individuals. It's not easy.

let me guess ..you are straight right? Do you know any gay people? OK well time to get people riled up...
did you know that at one time it was illegal for blacks and whites to marry outside their race? these same small minded arguments were used then.
Get over yourself and have some compassion for those that are different.
REALLY WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL? They simply want the same LEGAL rights straight people have. The right to be legally joined as a couple, the right to provide health care coverage for their mate, the right to make medical decisions for their partner in the event of a devastating accident/disease, the right to have and care for offspring, and in case there is some confusion GAY DOES NOT MEAN PEDOPHILE!!!!!!

You don't have to "let" anyone do anything. Fortunately, it's not up to you.
And what about the fact that we "let" men and women perform sodomy (any of various forms of sexual intercourse held to be unnatural or abnormal, especially anal intercourse or bestiality [1]) on each other? Are you going to "let" that continue?
Where does it end in a nothing-allowed society to staunch the guilt of the most closed-minded?

Why won't anyone let me marry my German Shepherd or my rose bush? That's the lunacy of this whole argument. The institution of marriage and the variants of it (in spite of the Mormons and the Muslims) goes back thousands of years and was clearly meant to cement the bonds between man and woman as a prelude to beginning a family.

You're right! Gay relationships have been around since creation and so has incest. Sodom and Gommorah was destroyed because of lust for each other and Lots daughters got him drunk and got pregnant because no other men were around to do it. Where does it end? Who is right? Who is wrong? I can bet being gay is worse. It is more against God than incest.
