Uh, the mailman won't pick up a UPS package. UPS and USPS are two different things.

If you are in the US, the postal service and UPS are TWO DIFFERENT COMPANIES.
The postal service is a national company started by Ben Franklin in Philadelphia while it was still 13 colonies. You use STAMPS for anything you want to send that way, and then you can put it in your mailbox for your mail carrier to take it. Postal service does NOT honor UPS packaging or deliver them.
UPS was started about 100 years ago, and it does not have anything to do with the postal service. If you use UPS, you pay UPS, and any other company can't help you with UPS packages.
So either take the package to a UPS office or drop box or call them to come and pick it up. Otherwise, it will definitely end up lost, and if you're lucky, it will eventually be returned to you.

The normal mail carrier works for USPS (United States Postal Service) not UPS (United Parcel Service), you can't ship it that way. If your place has a normal UPS pickup, then you can give it to that person. If not, you need to physically take it to a UPS Store or one of their drop boxes.

You cannot send a UPS package through the mail. You either have to have a UPS pick-up at your location (sometimes there's a fee for that) or take it to a local business that has a daily UPS pick-up. We let people leave packages for the UPS man to pick up if they need to. (as long as the shipping fees are already paid for) If not we will let people pay for the shipping at our shop. (no we aren't a "mail box store.)

UPS is not part of United States Postal Service. UPS are the people that drive the brown delivery truck. Your package may be lost forever.

What I do is schedule a pickup from the usps website
Did you save the other half of the receipt that prints from your pc?
If so it has the delivery confirmation # on it which can also be used as a tracking # so you can find out where the package is that is missing

You have to fisically carry it to ups, or if its a lot of packages, or a really big one, call them and they'll come to pick it up.
