Good question. It was never revealed in the movie. The cook was Portugese so I'll bet it was some secret herb for the crust. Watchng that movie you just knew Julia Roberts would be a star.

In reality it was perth. Mystic Pizzas were supposed to cause women to deliver babies when all else fails. Rumor has it that they included perth in the recipe to induce delivery. The pizza maker denies the rumor. Still that is the story.

I think it was a secret herb that grows in the US, starts with a p and endds with a t and in the middle is an o.
