Birth control (the combination oral contraceptive pill) is contraindicated in women who have a history of breast cancer or endometrial cancer as these cancers are often very responsive to changes in the hormones found in birth control pills. If the cancer is not fully eradicated and OCTs are begun, it may begin growing again.

I don't know about bringing back old cancers, but new studies are showing that the birth control pill increases the risk of several types of cancer, including cervical cancer, which it was originally thought to prevent.

Either way, hormones don't sound like the greatest thing to take if you're worried about cancer recurring. I'd try a barrier method like condoms, diaphragm, etc. with spermicide!

Adding hormones are probably not a good thing for that.
