Dawn of the Dead is the best of them all!

The original Dawn of the Dead was a great movie. Romero continued to use zombies to make social commentary about issues like consumerism and greed. The remake was dull. It was a fairly pedestrian zombie flick.
The original Night of the Living Dead is probably the ultimate zombie movie.

I don't know if it is the ultimate zombie movie, but #1 on my list is: The Evil Dead. Great zombies in that one and some crazy yet cheesy special effects.

Dead Alive, the unrated version. If you haven't seen it, don't eat dinner first. It is the grossest/best zombie movie ever.
Shaun of the Dead & Night of the Living Dead (George A Romero) are also very good as well.

There is a zombie movie out called "ZOMBIE". It is hands down the greatest zombie flick ever.But the only thing is, it is so hard to find. However, i did finally find it at blockbuster video.

Original or remake? Ultimate....hmmmm; I would say the 1st was pretty scary for it's time; all "B' movie-ish, black and white and grainy with cheesy acting; but for it's time it was pretty darn good; the new version is better acting, effects; but personally, the 1st one can still creep me out!
