I'm 20 years old. My boyfriend always has said that I'm "tight." I'm curious about how long I may stay stretched for. Some women have been telling me their husbands actually find their vaginas to be tighter after giving birth, while others are saying the opposite.
Since I'm young do I have a better chance of having my vagina go back to it's regular size?

Do kegels. You will be fine.

Your vagina will go back to normal with time and kegel exercises. Medically speaking, birthing babies does not affect the "tightness" of your vagina. It's a very stretchy part of your body that is surrounded by muscle. That muscle has been overworked due to child birth. After birth that muscle starts to repair itself. It can feel more "tight" or "loose" due to the muscle being underworked, or overworked. It's not recommended that you have sex until 6 weeks post-partum to give your body time to repair tears that may have happened, or an episiotomy, and to help that muscle get it's tone back. So don't freak out, you'll feel more normal after awhile.

As for your boyfriend, it could all be in his head. For some reason boys can't seem to grasp that birth doesn't mean our nether regions stay the width of a watermelon. Do some research online or at the library on the subject so you can present him some cold hard facts. If he still doesn't believe you, then take him to your next doc appt so he can hear it from the doctor's mouth. Good luck! =)

Well, I was also "tight" and I am 19 years old. After I had my daughter, my boyfriend said I wasnt AS tight as I was, but I wasnt loose. He said it was actually better because it was more comfortable for him. I wouldnt worry about it. Being as young as we are, we're so much more likely to go back to the shape we were in, in many ways. I actually weigh less now than I did before I was pregnant, and my little one isnt even 3 months old yet.

Best of luck to you! :)

Doing kegels is a great way to keep things just fine down below. It will also enhance sexual pleasure. Great when pregnant to avoid the embarrassing "pee" moments & helps when your pushing out the baby.

I've actually asked my husband about this and he says that even after having the kids he doesn't notice any difference. Then again, he may love me too much to make me self conscious about being "loose" even if I was.

it will go back. just help it along. do kegel's. when you pee try stopping the flow. then do them when you don't have to pee. it does work. you can do them anytime, anywhere...sitting on the couch feeding baby, in line at the store, while you are doing dishes, while cooking, anytime. just keep doing them and it will help strengthen those muscles back up.
