People could. So could a bad storm, fire, or other natural disaster. People lose everything they own every day in the blink of an eye. Why worry so much about things? I feel it is more important to be a good friend, and put forth effort to those less fortunate.

It depends on what you bought.
If you bought say, a lawnmower or some power tools then no, I'd just keep walking.
If you had a plasma screen tv or some Manolo Blahnik shoes, then hell yeah I'd steal your stuff and run!
