That's a good question.
First of all, that "Coexist" is a bumper sticker on my car. :-)
Secondly, at least where I come from, the vast majority of people claim to have a trust in god.
The problem with "In God we Trust" and "God Bless America" is that we claim to be a nation that accepts every walk of life, every religion, every race. However, there have been incidents of students being kicked out of class for not saying "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance.
What we need to do is try to have a stronger separation of Church and State. I am completely for people having a religion. I think it's healthy for most people. However, it seems that people are pushing for a "Federal Religion," in a sense. Christianity is not the only religion. The reason the pilgrims came to this country was to have religious freedom, not to practice the persecution they once endured. We really do just need to coexist, and let people trust in their various gods in peace.

I believe in God but not in religios sense. I do believe that there is an almighty power that created this whole universe and everything that is known to exist and not know to exist. I believe that humans are like a radio to a computer. We can not do things becuase those things are out of our ability just like a radio can not send you and email because is not able to do such things since it misses the parts for such operation. I believe that there is more than one universe. A universe where 2+2 does not equal 4 but something else. Believing in God in terms of religion is good but is painful since people contradict each other and hate each other because they don't believe in a same God. After all, religion was written by people and even so, there are tremendus similarities between God and Allah, and Buddha.

" n God we trust" You betya. The world tries to judge the infallible Word of God with standards that are fallible because they are human standards. We all have to admit, both believers and disbelievers alike that our senses can be mistaken at times ( e.g., an optical illusion), and our understanding of what is possible is often wrong, as the history of science has shown. Therefore, it makes no sense to judge a perfect standard (the Word of God) by a fallible standard (human sensation and reasoning). This would be like a child who knows nothing about mathematics going through a college-level calculus textbook and attempting to correct what he perceives to be errors. The exact middle of God's holy Word say's " It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man".

No - I think more are waking up to the propaganda of God and organized religion. I think many are seeing thru the illusions of this government - of the global power structure. There is a way out of the mess - it's gearing up more everyday. One just must understand with such change there is an equal resistance thus fundamentalism and traditionalism. Fortunately, our knowledge and growing understanding with not be dissuaded.

I do, but there are a lot of people that don't. Look at it this way. Would you trust God to do whatever with your life, without you stepping in and making "corrections"?

If we really trusted in God, or even followed His rules, we wouldn't be trying to pass laws making it legal to torture people.

I don't.
America was created from many non relgious people coming here on the lam from other countries.
It was a good place to hide or start over and reinvent yourself.

Sadly alot of us don't, but there are alot of us that do to. What I find very frustrating, is that after 9/11, churches were packed, and now they are empty again. We seem to only turn to God when disaster strikes.
