... so theres this ex-boyfriend, the first, who i was with for a long time. I loved him a lot but I broke up with him because of circumstances at the time. Since then, we kept in touch as friends for the past few years. Later, I find out he went behind my back and slept with a friend of mine in the years me and him were friends, which ended my friendship with him and her. We havent talked since. Recently, he called and apologized for what he did and says he did most of the bad things to me because he's been bitter about me breaking his heart. This makes me feel guilty... To apologize, hes taking me out... and possibly getting me a "sorry present"... should I get something for him cause I feel bad?

I would say no. No present for you, ex-boyfriend who ruined two of your friendships! That was wrong of your female friend who slept with your first even though you were not dating at the time. Ex-boyfriends are off limits, especially firsts! Unless you were truly over him and she talked to your first, that would be different. It was wrong of him knowing that his action would probably ruin your friendship with your female friend. Also it was like he was saying "I don't care to be your friend anymore" by sleeping with her. Just breaking up with someone if different than doing something that will purposely hurt someone. I'm not even sure I would want to have dinner with him, but if you still do... Take your free dinner and "sorry present". Say you are sorry you hurt him and didn't mean too... and run! Bye bye Ex-boyfriend.

Do you feel you should? Cos, if you think you should thats the only way you should. It's your decision. But, if it were me, I'd stay stern, cos he did do something that make alot of problems at the time, right? When you found out he went and did the deed with your friend, did you cry? I just wouldn't.. but It's up to you.
