I was looking at some impartially recorded data recently and I saw that since 1920 the Yankees have won 26 World Series and 39 Penants.

I also noticed that Boston has won one World Series and 5 or 10 pennants in the same time frame.

Clearly they are both excellent teams and it isn't at all true that one of them totally sox, but I was wondering if you could help tell who is actually the better franchise?

You cannot compare the two franchises. The Yankees are so far a head of the Red Sox it isn't even worth taking this discussion any further.

Clearly, you should NOT be asking the question.

If you want to know about this current year, I'd have to say the Yankees, because they have a better season record.

All time? Still, it goes to the Yankees. I agree with everyone else. 26 - 6 is definitely something to compare.

I hope Derek Jeter wins the AL MVP and the Yankees win the World Series. I also hope that the Yankees will sweep the Boston Red Sox once again.

No doubt the Yankees have more championships. Then again, if we date back to the time of Babe Ruth, the Yankees have continually bought their championships, which included the buying of Mr. Ruth. So let me answer your question with a question. If both teams had the same budget, year after year, who would have the better franchise?

it is without a doubt the yankees if you wanna go by championships but if you wanna pick this year it definitly is the yankees and i'll tell you why if you look at earlier in the season the yankees had the injury bug as bad as the red sox and they rebounded and look they have the best record in the american league and the second best record in baseball after the mets

No contest, the Yankees, everybody loves the underdog but give it up, the Red Sox are no match for the Yankees.

Compare the rings:

Yankees 26
Red Sox 6

As far as this season, the Yankees are definitely better. The Red Sox are unlikely to make it to the post season.

Dude i am a sox fan, and the yankees are better, but there is like a 90 million dollar payroll difference. Thier payroll probably wasnt to different back in the day, you dont think they kept the Babe by feeding him hot dogs do you?

Yankees have better players because they pay the big bucks. Red Sox have more heart and are a team not just a group of overpaid mercenaries who play together.

Past and present, the better team is the New York Yankees.
