1. Do you remember how WHO stopped the spread of SARS from China to other country? The same method applies. Isolate the suspected carrier and everybody in contact with this person until the incubation time of the virus is finished (depending on the virus the causes the infections)
2. Deadly infectious disease (ex. German measles) even though eradicated, they still keep the species frozen for studies. In case it reoccurs, scientist have to culture the bacteria again to produce a drug against it or see if it mutated and a new strain has occured. Things like that. Scientist cannot eliminate the strain totally.
