People born between 1961-1981. Although the years 1961 and 1981 could be looked at as transition years (with some considering themselves X or Y). Generation Y is 1982-2000 (although the ending is not for certain).

There is generation X, then the next one is generation Y, otherwise known as the "millennials". I am a millennial by one year. I was born in 1982. The Millennials are born from 1982-about 2002.
Some people say generation Y is anyone born in the 80s or 90s.
Generation X is about 1961-1981.
