I was told pathology showed chronic cervicitis after my total hysterectomy.... is this still a concern post-op, cervix was removed, but i know that alot of women say the vagina is the same tissue, so i'm curious.

That is strange because I found this on line from the Mayo Clinic. But you say you dont have your cervix. .hhhmmmm. Cervicitis is an inflammation of the cervix, the lower, narrow end of your uterus that opens into your vagina. Most cases of cervicitis are caused by infection with sexually transmitted diseases, including gonorrhea and chlamydia.

Successful treatment of cervicitis involves addressing the cause of the inflammation. In most cases of cervicitis, antibiotics are used to clear an underlying infection. Your sexual partner may also be treated to prevent your becoming reinfected.

You can reduce your risk of developing cervicitis by practicing safe sex and by following your doctor's recommended Pap screening schedule.
