Call social inclusion and health at the local council - if they can't provide a night sitter. charities like crossroads may help. the hospital wants the bed - it costs £30,000 a week to keep someone in hospital - ask them if they can help. Just get on to everyone, if she's over 50 - Age Concern may advise.
The good news is under New labour - from the 1st of October your mum won't be discriminated against at work because of her age.

Check with the hospital, they should be able to point you in the right direction.
We have the Department Of Human Services here & they help with elder care also. There should be some kind of government or state assistance you can apply for.
