Three things to watch for:

Increased itching
White, thick, mucousy discharge, like cottage cheese
Increased foul odor

These things would indicate a yeast infection.

If you do not have these above, then you probably have caused the itching by the shower gel...or lack of good rinsing the shower gel off. Try a sit in the tub bath in plain cool water a couple of times and see if the irritation ceases. Then do not use that shower gel there again. Go with some anti allergic or non perfumed feminine produce or plain ole ivory soap...but proper rinsing is a MUST.

Also, hemorrhoids can cause vaginal itching as well.

Shower gels and perfumed soaps are famous for causing all sort of problems in that area. Of course stop using the shower gel and try only using water. If that isnt an option try some of the non irritaing unscented feminine washes. They shouldnt be as irritating. Just keep an eye out for signs of a yeast infection because the irritation could also be a sign of one of those nasty buggers.

You might have a yeast infection, if the shower gel was anti-bacterial. If so, get a script for Diflucan 150mg x 1 day. It works well, and fast! (see your doctor for proper diagnosis).

Use a medicated female soap like Summers Eve or something like that. Also, try wearing cotton panties, cause they will let more air into the area.

use a medicated powder down there... only on the outside of course... excess moisture may be causing some chafing which can be itchy.
