hi there,

you are decribing a Panic Attack that is an Anxierty disorder.

Whlist they are harmless in terms of there outcomes they manifest all the symptoms of a real physical problem, but given that do go to GP ( DR) to have yourself checked and if nothing shows up in his results seek out a councellor for the dis-order it can be treated with medication. (Valium, Xanax,) are the main drugs for this condition but are not freely pre-scribed and also are ( HIGHLY ADDICTIVE). And that will open up another can of worms for you so look at meditation and possibly hypnotherapy.

as it can be beneficial in the short term.....

You need to assertain what triggered this episode so if it happens again you can settle yourself and reassure yourself that this feeling will pass and that you manifested this sensation in your own mind but given that you are not crazy....

also seek out a support group.

Avoid illegal substances ( marijuana, LSD. Exstacy and hulluisugenic substance) as this will make the syptoms worse and will translate into a possible Medium to Permanant Anxierty Dis-order.

Also be pro-active go to public Library and read up on Panic Dis-orders ... ( knowledge is power)

good luck

Agoraphobia
An abnormal and persistent fear of public places or open areas, especially those from which escape could be difficult or help not immediately accessible. Persons with agoraphobia frequently also have panic disorder. People with agoraphobia characteristically become anxious if they even think about being trapped in a situation where it might be difficult to leave the situation. People with agoraphobia also characteristically avoid the situations which bring them anxiety or panic. Agoraphobia is highly variable in severity. People with mild agoraphobia often live normal lives by avoiding anxiety-provoking situations. But, in the most severe cases, the victims may be incapacitated and be homebound. The disorder affects women twice as often as men, tends to start in the mid to late 20's and the onset may appear triggered by a traumatic event.

Agoraphobia- Fear of open spaces or of being in crowded, public places like markets. Fear of leaving a safe place.

I'm not sure if that's what you mean, but it was what I could find.
