Okay. I am sick. I have a severe cold, sinus pressure and larengitus. I went into wal-mart here in NE Ohio to purchase some medicine. I had to show an Id and sign a waiver! All I wanted was to get my medicine and get out! Who is this law stopping from doing whatever they are doing? You idiot poloticians have no concept of reality! How illegal is pot? Can you buy it in a nursery if you show an ID? How common is it? Get the point I am trying to make about this damn cold medicine you dumbasses? Why not make the punishment for making the drugs these meds are used to make more severe so that people will not see it worth the risk of doing instead of being a pain in the rest of the populations a$$ who are sick and just want the damn medicine so they can go home!?!?! Can anyone provide any valid points that would make this "Show id, sign waiver before buying cold medicine" policy make sense? Or is some buttmuncher just making this country one step closer to a socialist sate???

i agree there is way too many laws that cause our daily lives to be more difficult. We are losing more freedom everyday. That is one of the more larger differences between Democrats and Republicans. Democrats think that the government should protect its citizens from the regular difficulties that are seen all the time, like kids getting high off of cold medicine, so they make it so that you have to sign waivers, so that the stupid gets don't get high and accidentally kill themselves. . Republicans see it that if you are so stupid that you risk your life to get high (only one example) then go right ahead. The more we make laws to protect the stupid people that do stupid things and get themselves killed, yes, the more we become a socialist state.

We don't need any pointless laws.
We unfortunately have thousands of pointless laws.
The problem is, the govt can pass any laws that are rationally related to any govt goal/interest, no matter how tangential or pointless. I'm an opponent of so- called "Rational Basis" laws.
Yes, a much better solution is to punish the actual crime, rather than trying to regulate all the preliminary steps. But that's not what happens, because the preliminary steps are easier to enforce, so we get stuck with thousands of pointless laws.

the drug war is lost... we need to declare ourselves the winner before we have any more casualties.
cold medicine is a great example. chemicals have effects on the human body? who knew? maybe some of them, aren't worth the trouble of legislating or banning, but we need to start gauging them against alcohol or something. how many people die in drunk driving accidents?
is the only reason we don't ban alcohol because we remember how prohibition f*cked everything up?
slow learners we are!

Speaking of pointless laws, check out this one (scroll down until you see 159). I understand that this law is aimed towards offenders just to add more charges to a criminal act, but I would hate to be a cop and enforcing this one on the streets.

legalize all the drugs, I sure as hell do not care about dead or dying junkies, but quit screwing with my real and legitimate uses for some of these medicines.

the reason they do this is because some kids use cold medicines to get high -- they have to take a lot or the pills.
I worked in an ER and saw quite a few OD's from this.
