I have found an increasing problem with that lately. I usually go in and ask nicely but one place screwed it up three times in a row, I went back in and threw the food over the counter. The manager who was about 17, I was 32, came out and called me a b---h in front of my kids and said I was a piece of garbage and my kids were little brats that needed a good beating and he'd be willing to give them one. My kids were standing there quietly and had been the whole time. Another man in the restaurant stood up and came over cause my kids had started crying and told him to shut his mouth or he'd beat him. The manager turns and calls the cops on the guy telling them he's being threatened. Needless to say he no longer works there and the cops took him in and charged him with threatening minors.

Actually, I'm a lot more grown up than that.
I usually check the receipt for the telephone number, call the manager, explain that the order was messed up, and that I'll expect the correect order waiting at the window when I come back. I'd also like him to toss in some extras for my trouble. And, I like their food, and want to keep doing business with them.
The person who screwed up your order is probably the only one who could possibly deserve being told off...if it makes you feel better to act childish in front of a bunch of other people so you can get your way, you might want to look at your behavior from an objective viewpoint.

Call them on the phone ask for the manager explain that you are unable to return as you live out of town or something and maybe throw in that now you have 2 squalling kids fighting over whats there and you are not real happy. If you are calm and curtious usually they will replace your order next time you come in and give you free stuff on top of it. But if you are outraged and impolite you will receive the same in return. The key is to remain calm and polite.Even if you dont want to be.

What I've done in the past is asked for the district managers phone number, and made a complaint to him. I told him that this wasn't the first time it happened and I was pretty fed up with the poor service. What he did was credit me a free meal. I've actually done this more than once and every time there was a free meal credited.

Good for you! I had to do the same thing once. Being loud and letting all the other customers know is a good idea also!
