What was written ,recorded and released first, Merle Haggards Okie From Muscogee or Ringo Starr s (along with Buck Owens) Act Naturally. They are what is called the Bakersville Sound but the two tunes sound and run through my head very similar.

Merle Haggard wrote and recorded "Okie" in 1969

"Act Naturally" is a song originally recorded by Buck Owens and covered by The Beatles on the album Help! The Beatles' version is sung by Ringo Starr and was performed by the band on The Ed Sullivan Show.

The Beatles recorded the song on June 17th, 1965 in 13 takes. The master take was take 13. It was remixed on the next day, June 18th.

In the United States, "Act Naturally" was the flip side of the "Yesterday" single, and it was not until June 1966 that those two songs were on a Capitol album: "Yesterday and Today".

The song was written by Johnny Russell and Vonnie Morrison.

Act Naturally either one. Original was 63 and Bealtles in 65 or 66 Okie came out in 67 or 68 after the Hippy movement happened.

It didn't even know Ringo & Buck did one together! Live and learn.

So scratch the either one comment I thought ou were referring to the Beatles.

And I defer to the guy who said 69 for "Okie" , sounds right to me.
