Get plenty of fruits and vegetables, protein & calcium! Take your prenatal vitamins, don't drink, do drugs, smoke or expose yourself to second hand smoke while pregnant. Drink water! A potatoe or a banana a day will give you a good source of potassium ,which will help you avoid those aweful charley horses that are common during pregnancy. Avoid adding extra salt. Your baby will be the most beautiful baby you have ever seen!
Congratulations and good luck.

Hi i don't think this is a daft question and i knew exactly what you meant. For a start ignore all these daft answers and don't let it work you up, relaxing is the best thing you could do for baby and yourself. Eating healthy food is good for both of you and also destresses you which enables the baby to relax, if both of you are relaxed then you'll find you'll have an easier birth, which has a great affect on your babies health. Walking is also a good exercise while pregnant and also helps to make delivery time easier as it exercise all the right muscles you will need. Good luck with your new bundle and enjoy.

The people on here are not reading your question the way you obviously meant it. At least you are trying to educate yourself on what you can do to have a healthy baby....

Eat a well balanced healthy diet with lots of fruit, veggies, whole grains. Here are some of the best foods:

Any kind of fruit
Any kind of vegetable, especially broccoli, kale, and spinach.
Whole grain bread, pasta, etc..
Nuts, espcially almonds and walnuts.
Avacado
Eggs, preferably Organic
Milk
Yogurt
Cottage cheese
Tomato sauce
Lots of water
Most importantly a good Prenatal Vitamin every day
And try to stay as stress free as possible!

And be sure to stay away from alcohol, tobacco, or any other drug (I know you already knew that :0) ) Some other things I've heard to stay away from are sushi, processed Deli meats, hotdogs, and soft cheeses because they pose a risk for an overgrowth of harmful bacteria.

By the way, Congratulations! Don't worry too much about your diet as long as you eat well MOST of the time. You do have to eat a hot fudge sundae once in a while. Right?

Sigh - food is not the key to everything, despite what the naturopaths and quacks would have you beleive.

A lot of all that stuff is old wives tales - carrots are full of vitamin A which is bad and dangerous is pregnancy.

All babies are beautiful regardless of what you eat.

As far as healthy, either eat really really healthily - ie live off fruit and veg and stuff (couldn't do that myself it would really upset my stomach!) or take a good prenatal multivitamin supplement. Either way you'll get the vitamins your body and your baby need.

You can't rule out health problems in your baby just because you ate loads of good food though.

Just eat sensibly and healthy, and your baby will receive all the correct nutrients he/she needs, to be healthy.

Your baby will be beautiful to you when s/he is born anyway - so don't worry.

I can understand that you are worried as it is your first, but don't as this makes you think of things that really aren't important, but will make you worry.

Remember anyway, the old saying - Beauty is as Beauty does, so as long as you bring up your child to ba kind and pleasant it will be considered beautiful by anyone and everyone s/he meets.

Good luck

You shouldn't give your child juice. As long as he or she is eating veggies and fruit and getting nutrition from formula (if under 1) then there is nothing you can do better. Just make sure the baby gets plenty of veggies and keep away from the baby food with added sugar.

make everything yourself, just give your baby water for drinks anything else is fortified with things they dont need, had 3 kids and wish i had done things a lot differently, although beauty is skin deep, your baby is beautiful anyway

Healthy I can understand. Beautiful? Isn't that just a bit on the shallow side....? I've never met a mother yet who has declared her son or daughter "ugly".
