A child becomes emancipated when he or she lives independently - usually with parental consent - and a court agrees that this is appropriate. Or if your parents dont agree you take it in front of a judge and see what he/she thinks.

Have to be in school
Living outside the parents house
No criminal background
Have a job
etc

You have to get a lawyer to do that legally. Otherwise, you'll just be considered a missing child or runaway until you're 18. Can you wait 2 more years until you get to move out? If not, start looking for legal representation. Don't worry about the cost. I'm sure they "get" that you're not sitting on a bunch of money at 16. And if you are, cool! But seriously, you need an attorney.

You have to have a good reason for wanting to be emancipated and you have to be able to prove that you can support yourself and live on your own.
