He was here to start the team and there to win the world series in 2001. I dont know but i think that he only has a few years left, he is a great veteran and provides the young team with much needed leadership and let him finish out his career as a Diamondback? What are your thoughts

The Diamondbacks probabaly do need to move on their young outfielders, and Gonzales is on the downhill side of his career. Its a bit sad, of course, as he's been probably the real symbol of the Diamondbacks, and also because it signals a new turn for the D'backs. They are going to be in development mode for a few years. Most immediately successful teams work in new players will still retaining veterans.

It sounds like the D'backs handled it well, though, lettting him know before the year was out and being up front about it all.

I understand your point but Luis Gonsalez is a seasoned veteran and is getting up there in years he has been having a decent year with a 277 ba and 15 homeruns. But he is 39 and maybe the Diamondbacks have someone ready to fill Luis place in the outfield. Someone like Luis should catch on with another team without any problem .

i understand that Luis Gonzalez grew to become into nicely popular with the help of Diamondbacks yet his numbers have dropped off and can be he necessary a metamorphosis of ecosystem. i'm sorry for the Diamondbacks yet i think of they are going to survive and at last flourish .

Luis is in the twilight of his career and will probably be moved for pitching help. Good ballplayer though, hate to see him go

he is a great leader, and a great all around guy, but he's getting older in age, and the dbacks don't want to get into a financial hole with him eating their resources. they also have a good prospect named carlos quinten i think is his name who is good enouigh to take his spot.
