Don't. Because it has two engines and therefore requires MORE raw materials to produce than a regular car, over the average vehicle life of 12 years, it actually produces MORE waste than a traditional car.

It should be renamed the Toyota Pious.

These cars are built for people who DO NOT care about the environment, but want other people to THINK that they do.

Buy a biodeisel (used) car instead, do not reward auto makers by buying a new car. Reduce, reuse, recycle, and help stop waste.

Do not be like the self-involved wasteful person below me...

Yes, I bought one a year and a half ago and I adore it. It's an example of brilliant engineering. Toyota is the only one who built a hybrid from the ground up. They tested it for 2 years in Japan and introduced it to the U.S. about 5-6 years ago. Any bugs are long gone. I get 55-60 mpg under ideal conditions, 50-52 on short trips and Interstate driving. It's peppy, it's roomy, it's got plenty of cargo space, it's less polluting. The battery will last a predicted 15 years. And Toyotas just never break down. Check Consumer Reports for repair records.

Whether you want cool style (the controls are like no other car; I think it's theft-proof) or environmental consciousness or just better fuel economy, this is the right choice. Ask yourself why Toyota is the best-selling car in America (outselling Ford or GM)!
