Stop smoking - take up drinking - water. It is true it works. every time you want a cigarette drink water. it won't hurt you, won't cost anything, won't make you fat and it will help with the craving. also write in your diary every week the money you save and save it - don't spend it. Seeing the cash go up instead of the smoke will motivate you. You will also taste you food better. you will also need to do less decorating. It will keep cleaner. You will also taste your food better. You will also feel better. if this doesn't work I'll give you your money back! I can afford it - I've saved £5,000 so far!

Will power and a smelly ashtray!!
I stopped a year ago and now hate the smell!but seriously I found not thinking about stopping long term, just day by day.I f I could last an hour I could last 2,then an afternoon ,then the next day and so on .If you slip and have one dont give up on giving up just keep trying.
Also stop smoking at your usual times a couple of weeks before you set yourself a stop date eg.dont have a cig with your morning coffee (cut out the cigs you have as part of a routine).
I smoked for 15 years and believe me you really do feel better when you quit so good look.

The way cannabis is metabolized in the body it rarely leads to withdrawal symptoms. You just gave up something that gave to a great deal of pleasure. Life style changes like that can lead to all kinds of disruptions like loss of appetite. Any one who has lost a job or boy friend / girl friend can go through the same thing you're experiencing. This could be depression related. If things do not get better in another week maybe you should see a doctor just to be sure nothing else is going on.

My mum was smoking up to 80 a day at one point and was constantly trying to give up now and then. She found that in 'trying' she had a get out clause in as much as she had tried and it hadn't worked.
In the end she just gave up. She just got all her packets together, crushed them and left it at that. Yes she was cranky for a while, but eventually the cravings settled and the rest was history. I don't know for sure what motivated her, but I think she just didn't want to have to deal with lung cancer after her brother-in-law died of it.
The only advice I can give is 'Don't TRY to give up. Just do it'
I wish you the best of luck.

I recently quit cold turkey. Its been 35 days.
I just told myself that if I really really wanted one, I could have it after 30 days. But for right now... I have to wait. That helped my mind not feel deprived.
I would also pretend smoke. Not really have one in my hand... but go through the motions/breathing patterns, etc... that REALLY helped.
Sure enough after 30 days... the thought of smoking one now disgusts me :)... I tricked myself... YAY
