Wouldn't the baby run out of room sooner?

I am 4'10". I had both my children early. Thank goodness. I wouldn't have wanted them any larger than they were. 5lbs 7 oz, 6lbs 1 oz.. I felt like I was going to burst as it was. I had them both naturally, no drugs, no operations. I gained 28 pounds with the first one, so it didn't take long to regain my girlish figure.
It is also harder to keep it shape, being shorter. A taller person has more area to hide a couple extra pounds. But, in the end, staying in shape has helped me tremendously, because now that I'm a little (a lot) older, I just don't feel, or look my age.

The amount of room is an issue only when the mom starts to run low on amniotic fluid. Then doctors looks inducing labor as an option. Naturally, I don't think the are related.

Not necessarily. Babies are delivered when their growth is complete in teh womb, just like a fruit falling down when it is fully ripe. Other cases like early deliveries are abnormal.

However the short ladies with big babies inside may need help to deliver and in most cases needs to be operated.
