All elements are dead in that they do not have a life of their own.

The only time I came across "dead elements" is when a display has small spots where it doesn't display anything (electronic manufacturing failure), and there is not much you can do "with them" .....

burry them in the element cemetery, but don't go in at night, I hear it's haunted
