I assume your talking about a North American football with the shape of a vesica piscis.

You must spin the football with your finger tips as you release it. The spin provides stability for the ball and greatly increases the speed and distance the ball travels. With their greater average hand size, men have an advantage in throwing a football, but women can learn to throw well too.

Get some cute jock to show you how to release the ball.

make sure you throw it straight first off. as in make sure the point is cutting into the air.
once you get that straight, try to spin the ball right at the end while keeping it straight still.
once you can throw a spiral, then throw it as hard as you can/want. and throwing hard isnt just putting your arm back and then forward. you have to like get your body into it too. when your arm goes back, you have to turn your body that way too and when you release, you have to like, go with the ball (follow through).
also, take a few steps before you throw to help you get some momentum. get as much energy as you can and then release all of that energy into the ball.

its kinda hard to explain, but ya

wrap your fingers by (or over) the strings and throw off of your fingertips (45 degree angle or so and let it spin off the tips of your fingers)

now that you have that part down (pretty easy), we now must work on your center of gravity. a girls' center is lower than a guys'.
feel a ball of energy in the center of your chest (above the breast) and concentrate all your energy there. it feels strange.

now go out there and throw that ball. watch your step. your center of gravity has changed for a few minutes.

No offense intended, but do you throw like a girl? It sounds like you have a lot of upper body strength, but generating power in throwing also comes from the lower body.

grip the ball, fingers over laces. then move your arm through the proper motion. release about at your ear and then flick your wrist to make it spiral.

Putting your fingers in every other white thing. Then then flick your wrist to the right, as your fingers move to the left. Then use all your power to chuck it.

It's not so much to do with strength, it's all technique and timing.
