I would propose that you, write, vote for and support legislation that would prohibit the U.S. government from supplying financial, material or military aid to any country that practices violence against its neighbors for an apartheid system within its own country.

Whenever Israel faces a public relations debacle its apologists sound the alarm that a "anti-Semitism" is upon us. So, predictably, just after Israel faced another image problem due to its murderous destruction of Lebanon people like the answerer below must cry "ANTI-SEMITISM" sorry pal, you don't know who you are talking to, or what you are claiming. It is not anti-Semetic to discuss Israel's violent and murderous actions... You do a serious injustice to victims of the Jewish Holocaust to make such claims.

I say we now label all anti-Arab rhetoric anti-semitism since Arabs are Semites too. I will start calling all haters on this site anti-Semitic instead of addressing the issues as many of my Zionist fans do.

I see it like this: It started as a religious conflict many generations ago. Now it is more like the Hatfields and McCoys. Nobody remembers why the fight began, but they keep fighting because its what they were raised to do. Peace will probably never exist in that part of the world until people on both sides get sick of the futility of it all.

Israel had systematically cordoned off the territory to be administered by the Palestinian Authority. Then the IDF proceeded to EXIT these territories and almost completely eliminated the occupation of PA controlled lands.

The response to relinquishing the West Bank and Gaza Strip to the PA, was a systematic attack on Israeli territory by rockets from Hamas and Hezbollah (from the South and North respectively). The response from the average Palestinian was a vote for Hamas to rule over the PA lands, a sure-fire path to eliminate foreign aid and further isolate the Palestinian people from the global community.

Let's set some facts forward:

70% of current Israel consists of land purchased by Jews from Arabs, Christians and other ethnic/religious minorities in the territory previously known as the Palestinian Mandate. The other 30% was occupied over several decades by the IDF, successfully defending itself against a re-occupation by Arab forces at least three times. The Arabs lost these wars, the Israelis won these wars. That is the essence of the current geographic apportionment. Egypt and Jordan have since chosen to establish peaceful relations with Israel. So what's Hamas' problem? POWER & CONTROL. As the only anti-Israel voice within the PA territories, they derive a lot of popular support, and do provide social services, but the reality is, Hamas PREVENTS Palestine from becoming a nation, and PREVENTS Palestinians from enjoying peaceful lives. That is the truth.

Israel responded to Hezbollah's rocket attacks and soldier abductions with swift and decisive force. That's what you do when you're attacked. What provocation did Israel make to Hezbollah? Nasrallah himself said he was surprised by the response and expected a back-room deal to exchange prisoners. This was an extortion plan gone bad. It was initiated by Hezbollah and ended by Israel. The violence practiced against neighbors is predominantly coming from Hamas and Hezbollah, Israel is forced to defend itself, or do you propose it DOESN'T do that, and lets those rockets kill Jews, CHRISTIANS AND ISRAELI ARABS?

Palestinians need to educate themselves about the true landscape of the Middle East. They can't continue to impoverish themselves by antagonizing Israel and supporting perennial conflict at the cost of thousands of lives. Why do Palestinians die? BECAUSE they continue to send their sons and daughters on homicide missions into Israel, or they continue to support Hamas/Hezbollah in unprovocated attacks on the Israeli state. Palestinians, God bless them, refuse to acknowledge both reality and the path to peace laid before them every day.

A vote for Hamas is a vote for poverty. A vote for Hezbollah is a vote for poverty. Had Israel really hated the Lebanese people and wanted to occupy that land in whole and destroy the will and the spirit of the Lebanese people, wouldn't they have stayed there in 2000 rather than leave the nation alone, to rebuild, prosper and grow? What did the Lebanese people do?

They allowed Syria to control Lebanese politics.
They allowed Hezbollah free reign in the country.
They allowed Iranian funds and arms to enter the country.
They did NOTHING to assure Israel that Lebanon would be a peaceful, democratic and free state. Instead, the Lebanese were content to be ruled by Syrian thugs and be compromised by Hezbollah fanatics.

Israel is a democratic, capitalist society with close ties to the West and to its Turkish neighbor to the north. It does not inherently harbor anti-Muslim sentiment. The agitation and hatred is on the part of the Palestinian masses who are essentially ignored and abandoned by their Arab neighbors like Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, etc. Iran uses these people to be pawns in their effort to control the Middle East as they had done centuries ago. The Lebanese people settled for less, and blame the Israelis for defending their nation. Hezbollah and the weak Lebanese government enabled this conflict, and then cried foul when Israel responded appropriately, if not thoroughly.

If you do not want to draw the ire or attack of your neighbor, you should seek strong and peaceful ties with them. This is something Lebanon and the Lebanese people refused to do, likely because they do harbor some deep-seated racism towards the Israeli people.

We cannot fault others for our own anger and ignorance and instigation. That is simply immature.

And let us also note that Semites consist of Jews and Palestinians, and to attack Jews, you also attack Palestinians indirectly. For neither to suffer, both must lay down arms and choose peace over conflict. I believe Israel has demonstrated it is willing to live alongside a Palestinian state. Have the Palestinian people the courage and the soul to put history behind them and secure a stable and strong Arab homeland for the next generations? I have not seen this willingness yet.

If the terrorists put their weapons down, there will be peace. If Israel does the same, they are toast. Israel wants to exist. Terrorists do not want that.

Thank you for turning a worthwhile question into an antisemitic rant. I would hope the Jews get so tired of the Palis that they nuke them off the face of the earth. If other muslims really feel bad for the Palis why doesn't Jordan and Egypt give back the land they stole?
