Ney agreed to plead guilty to making false statements & conspiracy to commit fraud, make other false statements & violate U.S. lobbying restrictions. The charges could carry a prison sentence of up to 10 years & fines of up to $500,000 plus repayment of any improper gifts.

Ney improperly accepted trips to play golf, gamble or vacation in Scotland, New Orleans & New York between August 2002 & August 2003. The total cost of the trips by Ney & others exceeded $170,000, court papers said. Ney also admitted accepting meals & sports and concert tickets for himself & his staff from Abramoff & his lobbyists.

Ney accepted thousands of dollars worth of free casino chips from the foreign businessman & parlayed them into $50,000 in total gambling winnings playing card games. On one occasion, Ney gave $5,000 to a staff member to carry through U.S. Customs so that Ney could report receiving a lesser amount.

Not in the slightest. Republicans get charged and convicted at a much higher rate than Democrats. Google it.

I think they are all corrupt, but a few are sent to the wolves to appease the ones who demand answers. Many of them go untried. So has Ney been to New Orleans lately? I'd wager he hasn't been there in over a year. Every politician has steered clear of that place since Katrina.

Corruption in politics is suddenly Republican? I think your partisan blinders prevent you from seeing the truth about politics, regardless of party. Ask yourself this question: If Ney were a Democrat (like you), would you still care about this garbage?

Corruption is called lobbying and it shapes our laws more than ever.

Why is the minimum wage still 5 bucks and a few cents? influence

Why isn't there a law banning cell phone use while driving? influence

By the way, influence=cash, donations, rewards, travel, future consideration, gifts.

It affects both parties and the people.

At least America has a good justice system to pick them all up. But corruption can be found on both sides. Go double mint go!

Paul K. quoted on:

"Double Mint. Both the R and the D seem to attract the "extreme". I believe the answers are usually in the middle and I recognize the need for compromise. I also think it is important to know the person. When I vote, it is usually 1/4 R, 1/4 D, The remaining are Independent or left blank."

Ted is the GOP version of Robert Byrd who held the title of "King of Pork" for many years. As for corruption, show me someone in either party who isn't.

Never surprised to hear Corrupt and Republican in the same sentence. That's their way of life.

Dem's have their share as well, just not at the VOLUME of Rep's.

I am never surprised that ANYONE republican or democrat who strives for power in this corrupt world is corrupted by it. What I am awed by is the MANY others who are NOT.
