It depends what you want to buy. Harrod's is a store that everyone should experience while in London. They have everything!
Another shop that I liked very much was Liberty of London. They're noted for their fine fabrics.
Beware: Everything in London is very expensive.
The best places to eat are the pubs. They're also the least expensive.
Just as a side note, I've travelled to many European cities, as well as to the Carribean and Mexico. London is my absolute favorite. Have a great time!

the nearest train station for a train anywhere else london is a rip-off you would be beter going to manchester or liverpool for bargins however if money is no object then harods would be the place to go I belive a tin of beans costs about pounds 1.30 these days!
