I've had both services twice. Netflix wins hands-down. Faster shipping means more movies per month. Also, there were some fairly rare movies that i wanted, blockbuster didn't have them. Netflix did.

They're both about the same. Blockbuster does give free movie rentals so they get you into their stores. Overall, it's a cool service, and I recommend signing up.
But... keep in mind...
The biggest problem I've found is if the DVD is scratched or damaged, you have to send it back and it takes a lot longer than just going back to the store and getting a new DVD. And it usually happens about 3/4 of the way through the movie, and the ending is jacked up so you can't see it. Very frustrating, especially if you have to wait a week to see the rest of the movie.
Another problem - especially with Blockbuster - if you watch the movie and return it quickly, they will take longer to send you new movies. They start sending you movies quickly, and if you return them the next day, they send you new ones relatively fast. But if you show a pattern of returning movies quickly, they will slow down sending you new ones. (It says unlimited rentals, but don't believe them!) They have to make money, and mailing a ton of movies to you in a month eats into their profit.

I don't know why people use online rental services. I prefer to sign up for unlimited rentals for a month at a Blockbuster store. You can go back as many times per day as you want.

Netflix. Blockbuster censors their movies - that is, they cut stuff out of the videos for rent in their stores.
