i went through this too. you have to make a choice. what you need to do honestly is to not eat so much. what helped me was that i asked myself before i ate something "what do you want more, that food or to be beautiful?" theres no way you will pick the food. good luck hunny.

Do you think that is really the issue? When I am eating out of control it is because everything is not in balance with my life. If you are getting straight A's, that is a lot of pressure, maybe you are eating because of that. There is likely a deeper issue here. So analyze it carefully. I think you are on the right track. But why do you think the fact that you get straight A's is making you overweight. Dig deeper. As a person who has struggled with weight her whole adult life, I know it is hard to have a good self esteem, while feeling overweight, but there is nothing anyone else can do to make you feel better, somehow you have to learn to be okay with yourself. Just remember that your high school years are so unimportant when you compare it to you whole life. If you can pull straight A'a then obviously you have got a lot going for you, and have a bright future ahead of you. You will look back one day and wonder why you spent so many years trying to be something you are not. So rejoice in the wonderful, smart young woman that you are!

Stop worrying about your weight and start thinking of your health. See a doctor. If your blood pressure is fine, if your bad cholesterol is fine, etc, then don't worry. You're still growing and your body might just grow into your current weight. If however your doctor thinks there might be some health issues, listen to his/her advice and follow through. He/she will probably say to eat proper and be physically active. If this is the case, don't get discouraged. Adopting a healthy life style is something that you have to do for life. You probably won't see results for about a year, but guess what? You'll feel healthier almost immediately.
What I'm trying to say is first and foremost focus on your health. Being healthy should be the main goal. The looking good part is just an extra benefit that eventually comes...

Good heavens. You are yet another teenager going through the same thing. I have never heard of anything so ridiculous as "you can't be smart and beautiful." Stop eating so much IS the answer. You are fat because you keep pushing the food in when you have eaten enough. You want us to have a heart? Well, think of the damage you are doing to yours. You think you are too young for heart disease? You aren't. Keep eating like this and you'll be dead before you are 25. Congrats on your grades.
And I AM a woman.

first off. it doesn't matter what you look like, your not fat what so ever. if you have a problem with your weight you should go on a healthy diet, focus on the healthier foods. and soon enough you will feel great about yourself, don't call yourself ugly or fat, your perfect they way you are, and it's diffently not because you get straight A's. start to run more, or walk around your neighborhood for a little while, go out for some sport at school, or just do whatever to stay active. soon enough, you will feel a huge improvement on your self image, emotionally. but all you do, do not try to skip meals. skipping meals will put more weight on then, actually eating.
:]
i hope i helped you out.

If you are smart, you will give Bikram Yoga a try. I do it 5 days a week and have lost a lot of weight.
It is hard, hot, and takes a lot of determination but your mind and body will both thank you for it. If you stick with it, your body will figure out how much you need to eat and your appitite will adjust to that.
By the way, I think my girlfriend is beautiful and she is so smart that they took her grades out of the curve when she was a math major at UC Berkeley so she wouldn't mess up the curve for everyone else.

why can't you be smart and beautiful????
madonna is gorgeous and has an amazing mind, you don't create an empire like hers from nothing by being stupid.
angelina jolie is considered the most beautiful woman in the world but her main function is as an ambassador for peace and against poverty in africa and south east asia.
princess diana was beautiful and her lifes work was helping children in poor countries with AIDS and fighting against landmines.
oprah winfrey is 51 and looks 40 and she has an amazing empire that she also built from nothing, her first media job was as a news announcer and a tiny chicago tv channel.
queen latifah came from the ghetto and now has made amazing music, starred in movies and is a model for covergirl or maybelline or something like that.
don't sell yourself short, this has nothing to do with your weight, or the size of your behind... it's about whats in your heart. i would suggest you find a mentor or other strong female figure to be your inspiration... and do whatever you want with your life... you have amazing potential... don't let some overused term like "low self esteem" hold you back. 14 is an incredibly tough age, but it does get better, i promise.

Keep up the awesome work with your grades - that is great!!!
if you really don't like your weight then start cutting your food portions down, start walking more, or swiming, just get up and out and do anything that you enjoy and can live with. you will lose in no time. We all eat enormous portions and then get fat - look up the food pyramid and follow it, measure your portions for a while until you can eyeball the size of different portions. You CAN do this!

Uh...YES you can be smart and beautiful. Look at all the beautiful women throughout history that were so smart. If you are unhappy with yourself, only you can change it. If you are not happy with your size, you are 14 now, you know what you have to do to reduce your size and raise your self esteem. Good luck!!
